Poisson constant

The ratio of the specific heat capacity at constant pressure to the specific heat capacity at constant volume for a gas. This dimensionless quantity, also known as the adiabatic index or heat capacity ratio, is denoted by the Greek letter gamma (γ). For dry air, its value is approximately 1.4.
