Polytropic atmosphere

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008054

An idealized atmospheric model where the relationship between pressure and density follows a polytropic process, meaning the product of pressure and density raised to a constant power remains constant. This model is often used in theoretical studies of atmospheric stability and thermodynamics. It provides a simplified framework for understanding vertical temperature and pressure gradients.
