Pontias

A cold, nocturnal katabatic wind that flows down mountain valleys in the French Alps. It is a gentle but persistent downslope breeze, driven by the cooling of air on mountain slopes after sunset. The Pontias is particularly well-known in the Durance valley near the town of Nyons, where it typically begins in the late evening and ceases after sunrise.
