Quintile

One of five equal parts into which a set of data is divided, with each part containing 20% of the observations. Quintiles are used in meteorological analysis to categorize data, such as precipitation amounts or temperature anomalies, into distinct ranges. For example, the first quintile represents the lowest 20% of values.
