Response function

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008540

A mathematical expression that describes the output or reaction of a system to an external input or forcing. In the context of a measuring instrument, it quantifies how the instrument reading corresponds to the actual value of the atmospheric variable being measured. The response function is determined through calibration and is used to correct raw instrument data for systematic biases.
