Reversible process
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008561
A thermodynamic process that can be reversed by an infinitesimal change in external conditions, returning both the system and its surroundings to their initial states without any net change in entropy. In atmospheric science, this is an idealized concept, as real atmospheric processes always involve some irreversibility due to friction, mixing, or heat transfer. An example is the slow, frictionless expansion of an air parcel.
