Rosemount temperature housing
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008607
A specific type of radiation shield designed to protect an air temperature sensor from solar radiation and precipitation while allowing for adequate ventilation. The housing consists of multiple concentric, downward-facing funnels or plates that create a tortuous path for airflow, minimizing radiative heating errors in the temperature measurement. This design is widely used on research aircraft for collecting accurate in-flight atmospheric temperature data.
