Knollenberg probe
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006794
An optical particle counter used to measure the size distribution and concentration of hydrometeors, such as cloud droplets or ice crystals, in the atmosphere. It operates by detecting the light scattered or obscured by individual particles as they pass through a laser beam. These probes are commonly deployed on research aircraft for in-situ cloud measurements.
