A device or instrument designed to measure specific atmospheric properties by being inserted directly into the environment. Examples include radiosondes carried by balloons, aircraft-mounted sensors, or ground-based instruments that extend into the air. Probes collect data on temperature, humidity, pressure, and wind, providing localized atmospheric profiles.
