San Marco satellites

A series of Italian-built scientific satellites launched between 1964 and 1992, primarily from the San Marco platform off the coast of Kenya. These satellites were designed to study the Earth's upper atmosphere, particularly atmospheric density, drag, and ionospheric properties. Data from these missions contributed significantly to models of atmospheric dynamics and solar-terrestrial interactions.
