Saturated soil

Soil in which all pore spaces between soil particles are completely filled with water. This condition occurs when the amount of water entering the soil exceeds its capacity to drain or be absorbed. Saturated soil has a volumetric water content equal to its porosity, leading to reduced oxygen availability for plant roots.
