Snow gauge
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008984
An instrument used to measure the depth of fallen snow or the water equivalent of snow. Simple snow gauges consist of a graduated stick inserted into the snow, while more sophisticated gauges melt the snow and measure the resulting water volume. Automated gauges, such as weighing gauges, provide continuous measurements of precipitation, including snow.
