Spider lightning

A type of lightning discharge that propagates horizontally for long distances, often appearing as a luminous web across the underside of a thunderstorm anvil. This phenomenon occurs when a leader stroke travels through a charge layer within the cloud, illuminating extensive channels. It can extend tens of kilometers from the parent thunderstorm.
