Subtropical high

A large, semi-permanent anticyclone (high-pressure system) centered over the oceans in the subtropics, typically around 30 degrees latitude. These highs are characterized by descending air, clear skies, and light winds, leading to arid conditions over adjacent landmasses. The Bermuda High and Pacific High are prominent examples.
