Surface albedo
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009427
The fraction of incident solar radiation that is reflected by the Earth's surface, expressed as a dimensionless value between 0 and 1. This property depends on the physical characteristics of the surface, such as color, texture, and moisture content. Fresh snow has a high albedo, typically ranging from 0.8 to 0.9, while dark soils and open water have low albedos.
