Reflectance

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008473

The ratio of the radiant flux reflected by a surface to the radiant flux incident upon it. This dimensionless quantity indicates how much incident electromagnetic radiation, such as sunlight, is bounced off a material. Reflectance varies with the wavelength of radiation and the properties of the surface, such as its color, texture, and moisture content.
