Bidirectional reflectance factor

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003902

The ratio of the radiance reflected from a surface in a specific direction to the radiance that would be reflected from a perfectly Lambertian (ideal diffuse) surface under the same illumination conditions. This factor quantifies the directional properties of surface reflectance, indicating how much light is reflected at different viewing angles relative to a standard. It is a key parameter in remote sensing for characterizing land surface properties.
