Perfectly diffuse radiator

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007849

A theoretical surface that emits radiation uniformly in all directions, regardless of the angle of emission. This idealized radiator follows Lambert's cosine law, where the emitted radiance is constant for all viewing angles. Natural surfaces, such as a cloud top or a snow-covered ground, often approximate this behavior in certain spectral ranges.
