Bidirectional reflectance distribution function
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003901
A mathematical function that describes how the radiance of a surface is reflected into a specific direction from any incident direction. It quantifies the ratio of reflected radiance to incident irradiance, accounting for both the viewing and illumination geometry. This function is dimensionless and is often used in remote sensing to characterize the reflective properties of natural surfaces like vegetation or snow.
