Topside sounder

A type of ionospheric sounder that operates from a satellite, transmitting radio waves downwards into the ionosphere and receiving the reflected signals. This technique allows for the measurement of electron density profiles from the satellite's altitude down to the peak of the F2 layer. It provides data complementary to ground-based ionosondes, which sound from below.
