VISSR Atmospheric Sounder

An advanced version of the Visible Infrared Spin Scan Radiometer (VISSR) that included additional spectral channels for atmospheric sounding. This instrument, flown on later GOES satellites, could measure vertical profiles of temperature and moisture in the atmosphere. It significantly enhanced the capability for remote sensing of atmospheric conditions.
