Uncinus

A species of cirrus cloud characterized by its comma-like shape, with a hook or a tuft at the end. These clouds are composed entirely of ice crystals and are indicative of strong wind shear at high altitudes. Cirrus uncinus often appear as precursors to an approaching warm front or low-pressure system.
