Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003016
The region of disturbed flow downstream of an object moving through a fluid, characterized by turbulence and reduced velocity. In meteorology, this can refer to the turbulent air behind obstacles like mountains or buildings, or the disturbed air left by aircraft. Wakes can influence local wind patterns and the dispersion of pollutants.
