Warm-front wave
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010091
A wave-like disturbance that develops along a warm front, often leading to the formation of a new extratropical cyclone. This instability can cause a bulge in the warm front, initiating cyclogenesis and the development of a distinct low-pressure center. It is a common mechanism for the intensification of frontal systems.
