Wave diffraction

The phenomenon where waves bend or spread out as they pass around an obstacle or through an opening. This effect is more pronounced when the wavelength is comparable to or larger than the size of the obstacle or opening. Wave diffraction is observed with sound waves, light waves, and ocean waves.
