Winds-aloft observation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010283

A measurement of wind speed and direction at different atmospheric levels above the ground. These observations are primarily obtained by tracking the movement of a radiosonde or pilot balloon as it ascends through the atmosphere. The data are then used to create vertical wind profiles for weather analysis and forecasting.
