All-welded construction
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000100
A method of fabricating equipment, such as pipeline ball valves or pressure vessels, where the body components are joined by welding instead of being bolted together. This creates a single, solid unit that eliminates potential leak paths associated with body flanges and seals. Valves with this construction are lighter and more compact than equivalent flanged models and are frequently used in buried pipeline service where maintenance access is limited.
