Extremely large and complex datasets that cannot be easily processed or analyzed using traditional data processing applications. These datasets are characterized by their volume, velocity, and variety (the three Vs). In oil and gas, big data includes seismic surveys, well logs, production data, and sensor readings from thousands of wells and facilities.
