The process of removing drilling fluids, debris, and other foreign materials from the wellbore and near-wellbore formation after drilling and before or during completion. This operation aims to restore the natural productivity of the reservoir by eliminating formation damage caused by drilling. Cleanup often involves circulating specialized fluids, swabbing, or flowing the well to surface.
