Coal gasification
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000722
A process that converts coal into a gaseous fuel, known as syngas, by reacting it with oxygen, steam, and heat under controlled conditions. The syngas, primarily a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, can be used as a fuel for power generation, as a feedstock for chemical production, or further processed into synthetic natural gas. This method offers an alternative way to extract energy from coal reserves.
