Synthetic natural gas

A gaseous fuel produced from carbonaceous materials such as coal, biomass, or petroleum feedstocks, designed to have similar properties and composition to pipeline-quality natural gas. It primarily consists of methane and can be used interchangeably with conventional natural gas in existing infrastructure. Production methods include gasification followed by methanation.
