Synthetic fault
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003738
A secondary fault that dips in the same direction as the master fault it accompanies, as in a growth-fault system where it branches from or runs roughly parallel to the main fault and takes up part of the extension. Its counterpart, the antithetic fault, dips the opposite way, and the two sets together form small grabens and rotated blocks above the master fault.
