Coal seam gas
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004267
Natural gas, primarily methane, adsorbed within the matrix of coal seams. This gas is extracted by drilling wells into the coal beds and often dewatering the formation to reduce pressure, allowing the gas to desorb and flow. Coal seam gas is an unconventional gas resource, distinct from conventional gas trapped in sandstone or carbonate reservoirs.
