Natural gas

A naturally occurring hydrocarbon gas mixture consisting primarily of methane, often found in association with petroleum deposits. It forms from the anaerobic decomposition of organic matter over geological time. Natural gas is a major energy source, used for heating, electricity generation, and as a chemical feedstock.
