Natural gas liquids

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002510

A mixture of hydrocarbons, heavier than natural gas and lighter than crude oil, that are recovered from a natural gas stream as liquids. These components, including ethane, propane, butanes, and pentanes plus, exist as gases in the reservoir but condense at surface processing facilities due to changes in temperature and pressure. NGLs are separated from the dry gas stream through processes like refrigeration or absorption and are sold separately based on their composition.
