Rich gas

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003160

Natural gas that contains a high proportion of heavier hydrocarbon components, such as ethane, propane, and butane, in addition to methane. These heavier components condense into natural gas liquids (NGLs) when the gas is cooled or depressurized. The heating value of rich gas is higher than that of lean gas, often exceeding 1,100 British Thermal Units (BTU) per standard cubic foot.
