Light hydrocarbons
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002159
A class of organic compounds consisting of hydrogen and carbon atoms with a low molecular weight, existing as gases or volatile liquids at surface conditions. This group includes methane (C1), ethane (C2), propane (C3), butanes (C4), and pentanes (C5), which form the primary components of natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGLs). These compounds are characterized by having five or fewer carbon atoms per molecule.
