Nonideal gas
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002558
A gas whose behavior deviates significantly from the ideal gas law, particularly at high pressures and low temperatures typical of reservoir conditions. The compressibility factor (Z-factor) is used to correct for these deviations in reservoir engineering calculations. Methane, ethane, and propane are common components of nonideal reservoir gases.
