Compressibility
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000787
The fractional change in volume of a substance per unit change in pressure, indicating how much a material's volume decreases under increasing pressure. In reservoir engineering, it applies to rock, formation fluids, and the pore volume. It is typically expressed in reciprocal pressure units, such as psi^-1.
