Pore-pressure gradient
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002867
The rate of change of pore pressure with depth in a formation. It is calculated by dividing the pore pressure at a specific depth by that depth, and is expressed in units such as pounds per square inch per foot (psi/ft). A normal gradient in sedimentary basins with saline water is approximately 0.465 psi/ft, while values above this indicate overpressure and values below indicate subpressure.
