Normal pressure
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002568
The hydrostatic pressure of a column of formation water reaching from the surface to a given depth, which is the expected pore pressure in a permeable formation connected to the surface. The gradient is about 0.465 psi per foot (10.5 kPa/m) for typical saline water, against 0.433 psi per foot (9.8 kPa/m) for fresh water. Pore pressure above this line is called overpressure.
