Volumetric efficiency
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004065
The ratio of the actual volume of fluid pumped by a positive displacement pump, such as a mud pump, to the theoretical maximum volume it could pump. This efficiency is affected by factors like fluid compressibility, valve leakage, and piston slippage. It is expressed as a percentage and indicates how effectively the pump is moving fluid.
