Pump submergence
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003000
The vertical distance that a downhole pump, such as an electric submersible pump (ESP), is positioned below the dynamic fluid level in the wellbore. Adequate submergence prevents gas interference and cavitation, which can reduce pump efficiency and cause damage. The required submergence depends on the pump type, fluid properties, and gas-liquid ratio.
