Pumping well

A well that requires artificial lift, such as a rod pump or electric submersible pump, to bring reservoir fluids to the surface. This method is employed when natural reservoir pressure is insufficient to achieve economic production rates. Pumping wells are common in mature oil fields where reservoir pressure has declined.
