Artificial lift

Any method used to increase the flow of hydrocarbons from a well when natural reservoir pressure is insufficient to bring fluids to the surface. These methods include beam pumps, gas lift, and electric submersible pumps. Artificial lift systems are implemented to maintain economic production rates throughout the life of a well.
