Cold heavy oil production with sand
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000744
An unconventional production method for highly viscous heavy oil reservoirs that involves intentionally producing sand along with the oil. This process creates wormholes and high-permeability channels within the reservoir, improving oil mobility and flow to the wellbore. It is typically applied in unconsolidated or weakly consolidated heavy oil sands without thermal stimulation.
