Drained test
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001169
A laboratory test in rock or soil mechanics where a sample is subjected to stress slowly enough to allow pore fluids to flow in or out, preventing any change in pore pressure. This condition simulates long-term geologic processes, such as subsidence or reservoir compaction over the life of a field. The results are used to determine the effective stress parameters of the material, which are distinct from those measured in an undrained test where pore pressure is allowed to build up.
