Dual-permeability reservoir

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001214

A reservoir model for naturally fractured or layered formations in which two interacting systems, a high-permeability one such as fractures and a lower-permeability one such as matrix blocks, are both permeable and both deliver fluid to the wellbore. Fluid also crosses between the two systems, driven by their pressure difference. In the dual-porosity model, by contrast, the matrix only feeds the fractures and the well produces from the fractures alone.
