Gelled-up mud

A drilling fluid that has developed an excessively strong gel structure when static, making it difficult to restart circulation or pump. This condition can occur due to high solids content, contamination, or improper mud treatment. Strong gelling can lead to high pump pressures and potential loss of circulation.
