Casing reciprocation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000574
The process of moving a casing string up and down within the wellbore while circulating fluids, typically during cementing operations. This movement removes gelled drilling mud and filter cake from the annulus, improving mud displacement and promoting a better cement bond between the casing and the formation. The stroke length for reciprocation is normally between 10 and 20 feet.
